(Washington) Bella Luz Designs with Light is a line of handmade whimsical lighting products designed by Joline El-Hai, a Seattle-based artist. With a background in glass painting, El-Hai has created a charming line of nightlights, which she has dubbed "luminettes" as well as glass light-boxes. Her light-boxes begin as flat pieces of colored glass that are painted, fired, fused, and decorated with found objects. Finally, they are set in embellished wooden frames with lights inside to create the richly colored and textured "light-boxes." The Bella Luz line of "luminettes" and lamps begin as drawings in pastel, colored pencil, and watercolor. These are then photographed and reproduced as transparencies. The images are then housed in fancifully shaped metal frames that have been hand-textured by patina, and illuminated by light bulbs. Available at our Oakland and Burlingame locations
