ABOUT THE ARTIST:

While the company name comes from a favorite getaway spot – Vermont – Green Mountain Glass actually began in Atlanta, GA in 1995. Their goal has always been to create glass works that are fun, funky and affordable using designs that appeal to the whimsical side in all of us.

Artists Peter Newton and Mark Pietrzak seek out the best materials available. The glass used in their work is a cut above what you may be used to seeing in the old-fashioned suncatcher, including glasses like Fremont and Dichroic. In many of the pieces they use vintage gems from the 1940s and 50s which add to their unique quality. They are firm believers in using recycled materials whenever possible and also repurposing interesting glass finds from other industries.

Their art is created using traditional methods of cutting the glass pieces from larger sheets, grinding the shape to perfection, wrapping it in lead came and using solder to bring them all together. Much of the wirework that is used in their pieces is twisted by hand. They also embellish the work with vintage metal findings and Swarovski crystals.

Green Mountain Glass is created in a relaxed, turn-of-the-century barn studio. Their goal is to provide high quality stained glass originals to people who appreciate FUN! They thoroughly enjoy what they do – and it shows!
